This Thursday is our monthly committee meeting (7pm) and social (7.30pm). All are welcome to join the social at 7.30pm at Athina Club in Kololo- feel free to bring along other who you think may enjoy meeting the MCU crowd! Alright, we have kept our end of the bargain and set up a lot of exciting trips to do in March and its now your turn to keep yours. We have the following trips planned for the coming weeks, so please save them to your calendar. Remember to email us if you’re interested in any of the trips listed below.
This weekend: MCU’s Gulu branch are off to explore Guru Guru. If you are interested to go on a bit of a hiking adventure then contact us ASAP. Sorry for the late notice!
BWAMBA PASS (8-10 March): Sign up ASAP for this one if you are interested! Six to eight hours strenuous hike in the northern tip of the Rwenzori. The pass starts at the foothills of the mountains west of Fort Portal and ends in Bundibugyo, close to the Congo border.
White water kayaking intro session (16th March): If you are keen to try your hand at white water kayaking on the fantastic White Nile then contact Dan on dpksmith@gmail.com
23rd March: The Gulu team are planning a climbing day trip/weekend with The Recreation Project to check out some climbing options near to Gulu.

We are proud to announce that we have now set up climbing at the ISU (International School of Uganda) indoor climbing wall located in Lubowa. This will take place every Tuesday at 7pm. If you are interested in joining please let us know.

It’s Christmas party time, MCU style! Buy your tickets now, 30,000 each which includes a curry dinner (20,000 for Ugandan students). There will be a Saturday afternoon hike, dinner and then party, all at Sissa Club off of Entebbe Road. Those of us sleeping over- accommodation for the Saturday night is either in rooms or camping, see the flyer below. Upcoming trips:
This weekend those who signed up for the Gahinga trip will be off on great adventures from Friday to Sunday, lets see who makes it to the top of Mt Sabinyo or Mt Muhavura!
Saturday 3rd November: Day trip to Wajala rock- rock climbers, cyclists, hikers all welcome to come and explore!
Weekend of 10th-11th November: Overnight trip to Jinja to explore rock climbing and hiking options in the area. A range of accommodation options are available.
Weekend of 17th-18th November: The monthly weekend trip away, this month it’s to Sipi, in the foothills of Mount Elgon. A superb location for hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing- for all levels and ages!
Due to the wear and tear on our kit and the effort involved in organising trips, MCU has decided to start charging a small trip fee. 50,000/- is the annual fee, which covers an unlimited number of weekend away trips and day trips. It is possible to pay for day trips individually for a fee of 15,000/- per trip (up to 4 trips then unlimited). Student rates are 20,000/- annual fee or 5,000/- per trip.
